Outlaw and Parrot Take Their Second Win Of The Season

Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Marine, Humminbird, Minn Kota, Mercury Motors and the Wilcox Area Chamber of Commerce, the first leg of the Alabama State Championship and a one-day national qualifier was held March 29th on the Alabama River, Camden, Wilcox County, AL. Fishing was tough on anglers, as they had to deal with high winds and 3 inches of rain on Friday, which caused the river to fluctuate up to 9 feet in some areas.Whitey Outlaw and Mike Parrott weathered the storm to take the top honors for the second time this tournament season. The team weighed in 10.48 lbs. They are sponsored by Rockport Rattler, BnM poles, Vicious, TTI Blakemore Lures, Midsouth Tackle & Driftmaster rod holders. They fished in a Ranger boat with a Mercury motor, Humminbird electronics and a Minn Kota trolling motor. The team fished in 2.5 foot waters, catching fish 18” deep using Midsouth lime & chartreuse jigs tipped with minnows.Billy and Scott Williams took second place with a weight of 9.75 lbs. The Johnson fishing team fished in 8 to 12 foot water catching fish 6-8 foot deep using minnows on Tru Turn hooks. Sponsored by Johnson Fishing, BnM Poles, Tru Turn Hooks and Driftmaster, they fished in a Ranger boat with an Evinrude motor, Humminbird electronics and a Minn Kota trolling motor.

Third place went to the Road Runner team of Gilford and Shannon Sipes. Sponsored by Road Runner, BnM poles and Koolwell, the team weighed in 9.65 lbs. They also had top big fish with a 1.98 lb. crappie. They fished in a Ranger boat with a Yamaha motor using Humminbird electronics and a Minn Kota trolling motor. The Sipes caught their fish off the bottom in 5 foot waters using Road Runner glow orange jigs.

Second big fish was 1.76 lbs. caught by Dan Dannenmueller and Garrett Steele. The top male female team was Gerald and Jennifer Overstreet. Top adult youth team was Steve and Bradley Brown.

 

Next on the tournament trail is the two day national qualifier and the final leg of the Alabama State Championship, in Millbrook, Elmore County, AL. on the Alabama River, April 4 & 5, 2014.
